Old News

My last commenter stated that "this is old news" and that they were tired of it. I can understand someone being tired of it, but I suppose some people think there is more that needs to be stated.

Since most people who have commented on my previous blog have done so anonymously (Ok, no jokes from the peanut gallery. I realize I have no room to gripe about that :D ), it is difficult to discuss this here in a comprehensible manner.

Suffice it to say that people on both sides of this issue have made some good points. I think we all realize it is difficult to have someone degrade you and your family and not respond in kind. I know that I probably couldn't. I think it would be wrong of me to do so, but knowing myself and human nature, I would still probably do it...

Perhaps it would be for the best if I did not post this and try to let it die down. My natural tendencies toward peacemaker won't let me do that, I guess. I still feel like both parties (SoGospelNews, etc. and AveryFineLine) have some great potential for good in our industry. Much of that potential is already being realized, but I also think issues like this are a drain and hurt more than they help.

Thanks to all who have commented and keep them coming.

Me Blog SG,

We have never denied that averyfineline is a talented commentator nor that his opinions are not valid. On the contrary he has many opinions that are worthy of discussion, many of which he has borrowed from our message boards. His recent posts (the last 2 days) have much merit and seem to be leading him into a niche he belongs. When he is not on a vendetta of crucifixion he is a notable read. I commend him for that. I sincerely hope that he will continue in that vein.

There seems to be a misconception that there is some personal vendetta against averyfineline by my family. I submit that if there is a vendetta it is not by my family but instead by the anonymous blogs, this one included. It would seem that the perpetuation of this idea is being led by 3-4 people. I submit that this is where the vendetta lies.

Really is there any place in this world of "GOSPEL" music for destruction of people, and their reputations? I hope that we can all continue to act in a manner that is worthy to be called Christian.

It really just amazes me how Ms. Unthank continues to use the anonymous blog venues (which she has so often spoken of with disdain) to promote her own agenda. Puh-lease. Most of us are adults who enjoy reading the blogs for entertainment sake and to get a little different perspective on things than was being spoonfed to us by "news sites".

Susan, I don't see where you can see any instance of a vendetta from this website. At least not from my comments. If you are referring to the comments by readers, I still see no signs of vendetta in those. Just people expressing an opinion. I certainly don't agree with them all, but I will also not remove them just because I don't. Unless and until they cross the line of name calling and mean-spiritedness.

Mr. (or Ms.) 12:39 PM,

I believe that Susan was simply doing what you and others have done by expressing her opinions (here and other places). She has that right as much as anyone.

Again, sarcasm and belittling do not add anything constructive to the dialogue.

I definitely agree with you about us all being adults who can enjoy the blogs and the message boards. However, I don't really see an "agenda" from Susan either.

Me Blog SG,

You may not be on a personal vendetta but your website and others are as responsible for perpetuating the myth. I offer one question. Have you or anyone else ever asked me or my family about our supposed vendetta?

Susan, again I think you are confusing people who comment on my site with my own beliefs and comments. Any comments that I've made personally are either on the main page or if they are in the comment section, they identify me as the author. I have never and will never post as the generic "anonymous".

I have never accused you or your family of a vendetta. I have only been asking for a more moderate tone to this debate.

Me Blog SG,

I never said you had a vendetta, I said you perpetuate the myth of a vendetta by keeping it alive and posting on it.

[[I have never and will never post as the generic "anonymous".]]

Generic, or not, you are still anonymous :) Let's at least be honest about that. And speaking of honesty, your peacemaking is much too deceiving of your identity. I hope you will have the courage to honestly identify yourself and lay yourself open as we have always been.

I think I meant that I didn't believe you were on a vendetta. Also, I guess all of us who continue to debate this are helping to keep it alive...

[[Generic, or not, you are still anonymous :) Let's at least be honest about that. ]]

Oh, I know I'm anonymous :D I don't think I've tried to be dishonest about that. How could I be?

[[And speaking of honesty, your peacemaking is much too deceiving of your identity.]]

Susan, I don't think I understand what you mean here. I can't be a peacemaker until you know who I am?

[[I hope you will have the courage to honestly identify yourself and lay yourself open as we have always been.]]

No, I'm basically a coward at heart. If you could see the big grin on my face you would know what a trip I got from that, though! :D

Would you like me better if you knew who I was?

No, I mean that your peacemaking attempts are pointing to your true indentity.

[[Would you like me better if you knew who I was?]]

I don't know if I like you now, how could I know if I like you, I don't know who you are?

Another of those instances where the printed word cannot convey what I really mean...

You are really making my day Susan, I like you whether you like me or not. :D

Do you think you know who I am?

Gosh Chuck, you shouldn't swear! Just kidding. What makes you think I'm you?

I see similarities in you and I.. you have an anonymous blog because you have opinions that will make you unpopular with some people. And.. you think the anonymity lets you speak more freely.. when in reality it only lets you say things that probably should be left unsaid. At heart you are a good person that wants to be liked.

Thanks Chuck! I can skip my therapy session this week now! LOL Just kidding. I think you are at least partly right, although looking back I don't see anything I've posted that I wouldn't say if I were known (and have said in various places...)

Thanks again for reading and responding Chuck (and everyone else). If I were you though Chuck, I might be accused of patting myself (yourself) on the back with my post here.
